I suppose one of the first things that we need to have on the site is the actual Sopranos Theme Song lyrics. Here they are:

This is not the Soprano song lyrics. The correct lyrics would begin with the word "I" and not "you". The rest would be nodified to go along with that.

ReplyDeleteWhoever posted the first comment on the "Comment Site", saying that the sopranos theme song did not start with "you",but rather with "I",needs to kindly remove themselves from the comment site and recheck they selves. You may be referring to the "original song" itself,but the actual theme song to the A&E television series does start out with "You" and is referred to "You" throughout! Oh,and by the way You're Welcome!

ReplyDeleteThe original song sung by the band A3-refers to everything in first person...(I woke up this morning..) Which is on one of their albums. The band changed the words for the Sopranos...and changed the "I" to "you". So if you buy the Sopranos soundtrack it will have the "you" version. Two different versions sung by the same band.

Just think they paid some writer way too much,for that dissapointing conclusion. And the song, Don't Stop Believein', like the message was to the Soprano family, "Don't stop thinking you're all o.k. and there's nothing wrong with the way your family functions and the way you have chosen to live." I read a lot of stuff into that last episode. I loved it. And the daughter trying to park all the while, and we're watching thinking something is going to happen but it's just showing how they still have the mundane stuff to deal with just like the rest of us. I loved that show. Really miss it.
ReplyDeletei always thought the ending as silly and disappointing but after reading your comment i now understand and completely agree with you. i too was expecting something to happen but maybe the ending was meant to remind us that after everything they are just another family going through the motions and who love onion rings. i miss the show too.

ReplyDeleteWow, you guys. Tony was obviously killed in the last episode. The man in the Member's Only jacket comes out of the bathroom and shoots him in the head. That's why the screen goes black and silent.
ReplyDeleteThrough the whole last scene there is a pattern. The bell on the door rings. We see Tony look up at the door. We see, from Tony's viewpoint, someone come in the door. At the end, you hear the bell (Meadow coming in). You see Tony look up. You see, from Tony's viewpoint -- nothing. because he is dead.
A number of times (repeated in the last episode) Tony and others say things like, "you always have to watch out," "you never hear the shot that kills you" and "I think everything just goes black."
That said, it was definitely part of the idea to show that this family is just going on about life as if everything was normal.

I do still wonder though if he actually was supposedly shot in that last moment, or if the writers were just showing how he'll always have to be on the lookout, for his entire existence, and so maybe that is his penance, never being able to let his guard down.
